Boarding Pass [1]This project examines the relationship between travel, memory, and personal archives through the accumulation and recontextualization of plane tickets. As traces of movement, these artifacts document participation in artist book fairs and independent publishing networks, while also reflecting broader themes of mobility, migration, and artistic labor.

By integrating tickets with photographic fragments and graphic elements, the work constructs layered compositions that navigate the tensions between documentation and disappearance, presence and absence. The project considers how archives—both personal and collective—shape the ways in which travel is recorded, remembered, and reimagined.

VoicesIs the result of many days of exploring the streets of New York, photographing and hand-setting words, phrases, and experiences encountered there. It was produced during September and October, as part of the Book Artist-in-Residence program 2021 at Center for Book Arts, NYC. It was printed on colorplan paper in an edition of 200.

While in New York, García photographed hundreds of street signs and then used language from his images to compose a poem-like list of text that is both poignant and humorous.

Printed using a Vandercook Universal III and 45 metal type specimens from the Center for Book Arts collection.
